Nam Viet is a great little neighborhood Vietnamese restaurant. If you've been to Four Sisters down the road but want a more sit-down/authentic Vietnamese experience without leaving Clarendon, this is the place.

I've been here many times - I love the pork fried rice, homemade salt and pepper tofu, and eggplant with tofu and vegetables.

I need to take a separate paragraph here to talk about the homemade salt and pepper tofu. In the US I think it's hard to find good tofu. I lived in Asia for several years, and it is often freshly homemade there and sold fresh in markets (almost like a deli situation - not packaged). This is exactly that type of tofu and is a must-try. They deep fry it so it has an excellent crunchy firm outside while the inside is soft. It is seasoned beautifully wish salt and pepper.

The five spice beef/chicken is also excellent as are the spring rolls. The restaurant is kept very clean. Service can be on and off and the restaurant looks like it's stuck in the 1980s or 1990s, but it's endearing.

Shall come back here for SOFT SHELVES CRABS ( DEEP FRIED ) !! ( CUA LT LĂN BT )
SWEET and SOUR SOUP used SALMON is not the authentic , poor taste !! 《 CANH CHUA CÁ )
Not recommended GRILLED BEEF ( THT BÒ NNG ) NOT MUCH  meat .. only bones !! .

The room is quite dark , 3 clean toilets on the same floor !
Can pay by credit cards !! Great service
Not easy to find a parking space and quite walking distance for paying car park .

    Great pho!
    Good service
    Fast and delicious
    Lighting sucks
I am not sure why they use all fluorescent lights against a black ceiling, very depressing

This has the best Pho soup I've had in the DC area! The food is very good and authentic. I love that it's family-owned and you can tell the recipes have been refined through the years. The restaurant has been around since 1987.

I also ordered the steak, which was delicious but is not frequently ordered. I love all the sauces that comes with the dishes. I also ordered the Pad Thai, which was delicious and so would also recommend!

We were in Washington DC and wanted some Vietnamese food so we drove a bit out to find something local and found this place.  It's a bit off the beaten path but not by much.  It is simple with little frills to it but there are tons of pictures in the wall of what I assume are people that stoped by to eat there at some point.

The food was pretty good.   I got the grilled pork vermicelli and it's was good.  It was exactly how I would like it to be anywhere I get it.  Veggies are nice and crunchy, the meat tender and flavorful, good helping if noodles and good fish sauce.  My wife got the pho but wasn't too hungry so she opted for the cup size and I was smalllllll.  It was the size of a small bowl/cup that you would expect for a lunch portion soup at a deli.  But it was just enough to satisfy her.

Overall good place.  Food is good and definitely hit the spot.
